This step followed a series of meetings involving the fishermen's families, naval commanders, and representatives of fishing associations, which highlighted clear gaps in providing necessary security for fishermen working in territorial waters. Concerned authorities strongly emphasized their outright rejection of any infringement on the dignity and rights of Iraqi fishermen, stressing the necessity for neighboring countries to respect the laws and safeguard the safety of those operating in these waters.
