An Iranian police officer was assassinated in an armed attack while on his way to work in the Sistan and Baluchestan province in the southeast of the country. This border province is considered one of the most challenging regions regarding security, frequently witnessing attacks on security forces alongside the activities of armed groups and smuggling networks, which have previously resulted in casualties among both civilians and military personnel.
