The Maysan Province Police Command announced the successful rescue of a young man who attempted to end his life by jumping into the Tigris River in the center of Amarah city. A statement issued by the command explained that the River Police detachments, while performing their duties to secure the riverbanks, spotted the young man attempting to jump from the Republic Bridge, prompting immediate and swift intervention. The command highlighted that the rapid response of the patrol members enabled them to swim towards the young man and pull him from the river just in time. Necessary first aid was administered to him inside the boat before he was safely transported to the bank and handed over to the competent authorities for appropriate legal and humanitarian actions.
