River Police sources announced on Friday the death of two young men by drowning, while two others were successfully rescued in separate incidents across three provinces within a few hours. Security officials stated that the first fatality occurred in the Tigris River in Baghdad, and the second in the Zab River near Kirkuk. Meanwhile, rescue teams managed to save two individuals from drowning in the Nazim al-Sudour area of Diyala province. Authorities highlighted a concerning rise in drowning incidents in recent weeks across several provinces, including Nineveh, Dhi Qar, Diyala, and Salah al-Din, prompting river police units to declare a state of maximum alert. Citizens are strongly advised to avoid swimming in hazardous rivers and deep streams amidst rising seasonal temperatures.
