Al-Karkh Criminal Court issued today, Monday (May 4, 2026), a six-year prison sentence against four individuals convicted of belonging to and promoting the ideas of the banned Baath Party.

The judicial media stated in an official statement that the convicts were found in possession of publications promoting the banned party's ideas on their mobile phones in Kirkuk Governorate during 2025 and 2026.

The statement added that the verdict was issued pursuant to Article (8/First) of Law No. (32) of 2016 prohibiting the Baath Party and racist, terrorist, and takfiri entities, parties, and activities, and in accordance with Articles of complicity (47, 48, and 49) of the Penal Code.
