On Friday, Abdulsamad Al-Zarkoushi, a senior member of the Coordination Framework, stated that the confidence vote session for Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi's government raised several questions and defied certain prior expectations. He warned of potential political fallout if established agreements are not honored. In a press statement, Al-Zarkoushi explained that the session, which was preceded by clear understandings regarding the distribution of ministerial portfolios, witnessed some political factions reneging on their commitments and voting patterns, thereby disrupting political calculations. He noted that efforts are underway to hold an imminent meeting, particularly within the Coordination Framework, to assess the session's proceedings. Al-Zarkoushi emphasized the necessity for political forces to adhere to their pledges, warning that breaching them could lead to unforeseen complications. He cautioned that the repercussions might extend beyond the parliament to affect political stability in the provinces, especially given the presence of factions with significant popular bases demanding their electoral rights. It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives voted on Thursday to grant confidence to Al-Zaidi's government and its ministerial program. Fuad Hussein was retained as Foreign Minister, while Basim Mohammed Khudhair was appointed Minister of Oil, and Faleh Al-Sari as Minister of Finance. Voting on nine other ministerial portfolios was postponed until after the Eid al-Adha holiday.
