Judicial authorities have issued an in-person verdict sentencing an employee working at a government gas station affiliated with the Ministry of Oil in Nineveh province to ten years in prison, following his conviction on charges of financial corruption and embezzlement of public funds. The Federal Integrity Commission stated in an official press release that the Nineveh Criminal Court (First Panel) issued the conviction after it was proven that the employee was involved in embezzling an amount exceeding one billion, one hundred and seventy-four million Iraqi dinars. The statement clarified that the embezzled amount represents the total financial revenues generated from the sales of petroleum derivatives at the aforementioned station for the months of August and September 2025. The court confirmed that its ruling was based on the material evidence and proofs obtained during the investigations, which it found sufficient and compelling to issue the penalty against the convict in accordance with the provisions of Article (315) of the Iraqi Penal Code. This step underscores the ongoing efforts to combat corruption and safeguard public funds.
