Human rights activist Ali Habib emphasized that the Iraqi constitution provides solid texts guaranteeing citizen protection and preventing arbitrary arrest and mistreatment, but the real dilemma lies in the lack of actual implementation and strict accountability. Habib explained that the effectiveness of legal protection is linked to the speed and independence of judicial procedures, away from any pressure, noting the important role of the Human Rights Commission in monitoring violations and the need to provide it with the necessary support to enhance its independence. He called for activating internal oversight systems, using modern technologies such as digital evidence, and intensifying human rights training for security forces to ensure that violators do not escape punishment and to preserve the reputation of national institutions.
