dijlahpoint - Security forces in Kirkuk Governorate arrested on Tuesday (September 15, 2026) one of the most dangerous criminals with a lengthy record, who had devised a new method to rob citizens and visitors of banks and exchange offices. According to an official statement, the suspect exploited his advanced age and appearance to monitor his victims as they left banks, secretly disabling a tire of the victim's vehicle, then following him to alert him of the problem. Once the citizen got out and became busy changing the tire, the suspect would distract him, steal the cash in his possession, and immediately leave the governorate to conceal his trail. The statement added that the anti-crime detachments in Kirkuk, in cooperation with the Falcons Cell, managed to identify the suspect and arrest him in record time, noting that he confessed to carrying out several thefts totaling 38 million dinars in Kirkuk, two operations in Diyala involving 3 million and 1.8 million dinars, as well as another operation in Salah al-Din Governorate. Investigations revealed that the suspect has a dangerous criminal record, having been sentenced to life imprisonment before 2003 for armed robbery and mugging, and sentenced to 11 years in prison in 2008 on another mugging charge.
